Ontwikkeld door natuurfotografen

De Buteo Photo Gear ‘Floating Hide Grebe II’ is ontwikkeld door natuur- en wildfotografen: De eerste drijfhut is afgelopen jaren uitgebreid getest en waar nodig aangepast. Naast onze eigen ervaringen hebben we goed geluisterd naar de feedback van onze klanten en ambassadeurs door heel Europa. 
Hoewel de drijvende schuilhut grotendeels hetzelfde is gebleven, hebben we een aantal verbeteringen aangebracht om hem nog beter, gebruiksvriendelijker en efficiënter te maken.

Er zijn een aantal aanpasingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd ten op zichte van de eerste versie:

• Het tentdoek reikt nu verder naar beneden en omhult de buis volledig met riet.
• Er zijn nu twee vaste snoots geïntegreerd in het tentdoek (voor en achter) in plaats van los geleverd. Je hoeft dus geen extra, losse snoots aan te schaffen en te monteren.
• De lensopening en de snoot aan de voorkant zijn nu nog lager geplaatst, waardoor de voorste uitsparing in de tube beter kan worden gebruikt. Je kunt dus vanuit een nóg lagere hoek fotograferen.
• Het frame met het ‘paraplu’-systeem is sterker dan in de eerste versie.
• Het veiligheidsnet biedt nu een verbeterde pasvorm voor extra veiligheid.
• Nieuwe kijkvensters aan de voor- en achterkant: Boven, links en rechts van de lensopening (snoot), deze zijn nu iets groter, waardoor je een nog beter overzicht hebt.
• Alle kijkvensters kunnen nu gemakkelijker worden geopend en vastgezet, voor meer gemak in het veld.
  De twee houders en houders voor paddles zijn verwijderd omdat niks meer toevoegen - het ontwerp is daardoor efficiënter gebruik.
• Met optimaal geplaatste handgrepen aan de zijkanten is de gehele tent nu beter in balans - perfect om moeiteloos te dragen wanneer dat nodig is (op land of in het water).
• De twee opbergzakken met klittenbandsluiting worden nog steeds meegeleverd, maar in de nieuwe versie zijn dit waterdichte zakken (met uitzondering van de rits).
  Afmetingen: 20 cm. x 13 cm. x 13 cm. In deze nieuwe versie kun je kiezen of je ze aan de voor- of achterkant van de buis wilt plaatsen.
• De voetpomp is weer inbegrepen - nu in een duurzamere, verbeterde versie.

The Floating tent is quite easy to set up: Pump both air chambers full, then place the mounting plate(s) and of course a tripod head, the safety net, 2 storage bags (if needed), mount the tent section (easy umbrella system) and secure the tent fabric to the tube. Your floating hide is ready for use!
Note: A comprehensive manual is, of course, included with the floating hide. Please read this carefully.

We've chosen for a sturdy and high quality PVC (used in rafts), 2 air chambers for maximum safety and 2 levels for photography, which is unique!

This floating photography hide comes with the following viewing windows:

• Front:  1 above the snoot: 20x7 cm. + 2 left and right, size 10x7 cm. + 1 bigger viewing window above.
• Back:   1 above the snoot: 20x7 cm. + 2 left and right, size 10x7 cm. + 1 bigger viewing window above.
• Left:    3 observation windows.
• Right: 3 observation windows.

All windows have insect nets and can be easily opened and closed (secured easily with a string).​

The boat/tube itself has sturdy ends of the 2 chambers (back), conical shaped for safety. For these ends, extra camo is included. All fixing points of the tube are double secured.
On the outside you'll find 26 x rings for attaching bags, nets, etc.
The tent fabric is made of a strong material (polyester 150D) that will last for a long period. During rain/showers you still keep dry because of the Hydrostatic Head of 2.500 mm. However, keep in mind that the windows are not waterproof, rainwater can seep in through there.

Perfect camouflage

Camouflaging with this floating photohide allows you as a photographer to approach wildlife on the water surface or its edges without disturbing or scaring them. Because they no longer see you as a human being, they see no danger in it and you can often get great photos at very close range.
The camo pattern of the tent itself is our well known reed pattern, and it has the option of attaching additional camouflage such as branches, reeds etcetera. These extras can be attached using the strings and 20 sets of loops on the outside of the tent. If you do this properly, your hide will blend in even more with the surroundings.
Lightweight and compact in size, this floating photohide is easy to take with you to your local area to use in a pool, pond or lake, going further afield or even travelling by plane.

Prepare well

Be sure you're prepared well before going into the water;

• Make sure you know the heights of the water to keep it safe.
• What is your goal: what birds or mammals do you want to photograph.
• Are you allowed to enter the water? Ask the owner.
• How about the light conditions.

Of course it's adviseable and wise to visit a nature area or pond first and prepare well so you can start nature photography on the water surface in a very focused and safe way.

Entering the water

If possible, seek for a spot which is not visible by humans or wildlife, so you don't scare of mammals or birds before you start.
Prepare your hide, place your photogear at the water's edge so that it is safe. Enter the water by making use of of vegetation or an inlet. A reed bed or other shore vegetation can be very useful for entering the water unseen.
Make use of the 2 handles for easy carrying. Once in the water the handle on the front can be used to pull the tent along.

Taking photographs from the Floating Hide 'Grebe II'

The viewing windows with a fixed insect net give you enough visibility on all sides to see your surroundings. Two snoots/lenscovers are fixed to the tent. These snoots will camouflage your lens extra and protect it against waterdrops (same waterproof fabric and same camo as the tent).
The hide comes with 2 small, waterproof bags for accessories, these can be placed at the front or at the back using the velcro strips. Two low level mounting plates and one mounting screw are supplied. The photo level at the back of the hide is even lower than at the front, so you shoot with your lens literally at the water level. At the front you can mount the safety net (included) that prevents small stuff from falling into the water.
